I attended Bethel University where I got my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in painting and art history. In addition to my studies at Bethel University, I studied various visual arts mediums at the Lorenzo de Medici School in Florence, Italy for five months. As a painter, I practice in encaustic, watercolor and gouache. In some of my personal work I focus on historical female nudes, specifically women who are portrayed as prostitutes or sex icons, and compare that to how they were sociologically perceived during the time period they were living in. I am as equally interested in the idea of gender and social structures around gender. In my watercolor series, Epicene, I am exploring how biologically androgynous people are perceived socially in regards to their gender. Within all of my interests, I always am approaching the theme with a Christian lens. I believe that God created us to be creative beings just as He is a creative God. I find it intriguing when I get to challenge my faith through various hot politic/social topics of this world.
Along with my own personal art, I also take commissions. I have done several portraits, in various mediums, of both people and animals alike. I enjoy getting to create something that another person gets to enjoy for themselves or as a gift for another. Please fill out the contact form on my website if you are interested in a commission. I also sell all of my work that is on my website.
